Barbara Black is a distinguished professor at Skidmore College and the Tisch Chair in Arts and Letters. She earned her AB from Bryn Mawr College and both her MA and PhD from the University of Virginia. During the summers, Barbara brings her expertise to Middlebury's Bread Loaf School of English where she leads students through the complexities of the Victorian era, the nineteenth-century British novel, and the world of ghosts and spirits in a course called “Haunted.” //
Barbara is also the author of multiple books, including A Room of His Own (2012), which delves into Victorian Clubland and the role gentlemen's clubs played in nation-building. //
